The Wagin Action Group (WAG) was formed almost ten years ago by a group of 18 younger farmers and town folk from Wagin and surrounds. The group have been working together to do their bit, and more, for the community ever since.  Formerly from the Apex Club, the group broke away to obtain more flexibility and ensure that their efforts and monies raised, stayed local for the benefit of Wagin.

While the group mostly supports worthwhile causes and local events, it also provides members with an opportunity to socialise, connect and network with others while giving to their community. They meet at least once a month and meetings are kept mostly informal. This way it is less likely that members will feel overcommitted and lose interest, but rather will enjoy being involved in the group.

Some of the many things that WAG assists with include coordinating the local fox shoot, setting up the giant Christmas Tree, running the annual Christmas street carnival, planting 15 hectares of crop for the purposes of fund-raising, donating thousands to the local school, junior sport and community groups and providing and maintaining a bouncy castle and BBQ trailer that can be hired out or run by them at community events.  Last year they also erected a fort in the nature playground at the local primary school and a picnic shelter at Norring Lake.

The Wagin Action Group also makes an important contribution to the Wagin Woolorama every year. They manage the gates, distribute fodder, move livestock and assist in the set up and pack up of the grounds. The Woolorama would not exist or continue to be what it is today without local groups like WAG providing their time, expertise and generosity to ensure everything runs smoothly, and the visitors to the show enjoy their Wagin Woolorama experience.
