Wagin Agricultural Society are pleased and excited to introduce the newest team member, Carmen Keed who will be coordinating a sponsorship role for Wagin Woolorama.

The role was created this year to support both existing sponsors and to create opportunities to form new partnerships to ensure a bright future for Woolorama

Although born up North, Carmen grew up in Wagin attending the District High School and latter Narrogin High for year 11 and 12.   On completion of year 12 she moved to Perth and has been living and working there ever since.

Whilst working in retail and mining logistics she also discovered she had a passion for working in Major Events. Some of the events she has been involved in included Chevron City to Surf for Activ, Channel Seven Christmas Pageant, ANZAC Day in Kings Park and the main parade, Perth Garden Festival and the Perkins MACA Cancer 200 Ride and Walk for Women’s Cancer to name a few. During her time working on events she also spent 2 years at South Metro TAFE lecturing on how to run them.

Carmen saw the sponsorship job advertised on the Woolorama Face Book page and thought it sounded ideal. So when several family members still living in Wagin suggested she should apply she made the decision too especially with COVID cancelling most of the events she had been working on in Perth, the timing was perfect.

She hopes to share her knowledge of the event industry and help make the show bigger and better with the existing team who have organised an amazing show for many years. She wants to incorporate her event management passion with her love for the event built up over her childhood years of attending it. She also wants to support the community where her family still live and to make them proud.

With many fond memories as a child walking to the pool for school swimming lessons and everyone in her class running to the fence to see what new rides were being installed at sideshow alley that year. The pure excitement of having a “student Free day” and knowing she was going to the show the next day. Entering art and photos into the competitions and the excitement of seeing a blue certificate next to your name. The smell of the “Lamb Van” and eating a yummy lamb shank with chips and gravy and the hot doughnuts covered in sugar and cinnamon have created many lasting and happy memories.

Carmen loves coming home to Wagin for weekends and visiting her extended family and taking her dog for walks in the surrounding bushland. Along with her love of working on events and meeting new people, she also enjoys travelling and exploring WA with her husband and dog in their camper trailer.

She is most excited about the opportunity to learn the agricultural side of the show and meeting and working with a dedicated team of people, and to experience the other side of a show she enjoyed so much growing up in Wagin.

If you would like to ask Carmen a question about her new role or just want to say hi or congratulate her she can be contacted on sponsorship@woolorama.com.au
